There will be Christmas in the Carroll-Chavis house!

So this is what happened....

Yesterday I called N and told him I was going to take the bus to Target to do some Christmas shopping for Maya. My dad sent me a gift card from Target, so I figured at least I could get her some stuff. But because we don't have a car, shortage of cash and where we live (no where to easily get a tree) I didn't think we'd be decorating. Well when I got home last night N told me that our friend Mikey would be picking me up from work. We would then pick up N and Maya and go Christmas shopping. N has also been working some extra shifts so we have some cash to get a tree and some decorations. YES!

I also remembered that we have a turkey in the basement freezer! Since we don't have a car, it will be to hard for us to get around. I just called N and told him to take the turkey out so we could have our own little Christmas dinner.

I'm very happy and very thankful!

Ah, the joys of another Monday. Our weather has been so dreary. I guess I shouldn't complain since the Midwest has been hit by an ice storm.

I'm dying to pick up the phone and call someone to chat, but I have no one to call. That seems so sad.  I could call my buddy Dale, but I really want to talk to a girlfriend. My only one is in DC and I can't call long distance from my work number.

So I'm trying to think of creative ways to decorate for the holiday. I have no money (got to figure out how to pay the electric bill so they won't cut it off). The old lady who used to live there before us left a bunch of Christmas decorations downstairs. I'm going to see what can be slavaged (what can be washed, because everything down there is funky!). I don't think we're going to be able to do a tree. (Maybe next year) 

I need to put my "Martha Stewart" hat on. Channeling Martha..................
